One-shot effect
An effect that applies to the game only once. For example, Counterspell reads, "Counter target spell." When it resolves, its effect is done.
One-shot effects differ from continuous effects, which last for some amount of time.
   Compare Continuous effect.

Open
A Constructed-format event that has no restrictions on what sets cards in your deck must be from. You can have cards in your deck from any set available in Magic Online.
    Compare Block Constructed, Standard.

Opponent
A person you're playing against. In a spell or ability's rules text, "opponent" always refers to an opponent of the player controlling the spell or ability.
In a team game, only members of the opposing team are opponents; teammates aren't opponents. In a free-for-all, all other players are a player's opponents.
   See also Multiplayer formats.

Owner
The person who started the game with the card in his or her deck. The owner of a token is the controller of the spell or ability that created it. Even if your opponent has control of one of your permanents, you're still its owner.
   Compare Controller.
